Creating Homemade Rabbit Treats is a delightful way to bond with your furry companions. Not only do these small cookies provide an opportunity for creativity in the kitchen, but they also ensure that your bunnies receive fresh and nutritious ingredients. Homemade treats can be tailored to suit your rabbit’s preferences while avoiding the preservatives and additives often found in store-bought options.

Ingredients

    • Rabbit Pellets: ¼ cup rabbit pellets, finely ground.
    • Oatmeal: ¼ cup, dry oatmeal for texture.
    • Banana: ½ ripe banana, mashed.
    • Carrots: ½ cup of baby carrots or 1 regular carrot, finely chopped.
    • Water: As needed for consistency.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F
  2. Using a food processor, pulverize the rabbit pellets, creating a fine powder and add to medium bowl
  3. Add half a banana to the bowl and smash together with a fork.
  4. Chop carrots into small pieces and mix together with the other ingredients
  5. The mix should hold together, but if it is too dry, add a small amount of water until the ingredients make a dough.
  6. Roll out dough on clean surface about 1/4″ thick and cut out fun shapes
  7. Place shapes on a lined cookie sheet
  8. Bake for 20 minutes and then allow treats to rest in oven as it cools down for 30 minutes. This gives them an added crisp.
  9. Once cooled store biscuits in an airtight container to keep them fresh for your bunnies.
